The Association Visite des Malades dans les Etablissements Hospitaliers (VMEH) was created by the Countess de Saisseval in 1801 - it was named Visite des Malades dans les Hôpitaux from its foundation in 1953. Its mission is to provide, among other things through regular visits, a friendly presence and human warmth to hospitalized patients, the elderly and the disabled. In particular, volunteers are asked to agree to listen to each other without judgment and to be available at least once a week.
