Founded by Marie-Claude Lebret in 1986, this social and humanitarian association aims to educate and provide aid dogs for people with an engine disability free of charge. At the outset, she received the support of AFIRAC, the French Association for Information and research on pet and various partners, so that educators can go to the United States, a pioneer in specialized canine education. Today, Handi'dogs have four training centres (Lyon, Alençon, Vineuil, Saint-Brandan) and supervise 330 host families throughout France. Handi'dogs provide training for educators, selection of puppies, supervision of the host families where dogs are reared, as well as the dog/master torque throughout the dog's lifetime.
