LES AUXILIAIRES DES AVEUGLES
The purpose of the association is to put a blind person in contact with a volunteer who can help him/her with a task that he/she cannot do alone. The missions consist, for example, in guiding the blind in their movements, shopping, administrative procedures, exams... It is also a question of assisting them in their daily lives, to read to them or write their letters. In order to keep the blind informed, volunteers are also encouraged to participate in the audio recording of books, magazines or any other useful document. Finally, they can also accompany blind people on holidays or in their cultural and sporting activities. The association also offers regular programmes of activities: theatre, concerts, museum visits, hiking and cycling in tandem... More than 1,000 volunteers carry out 23,000 annual missions for some 1,500 visually impaired people throughout France: about 8,000 home visits, 5,000 hours of reading and more than 30,000 km in tandem..
