A monument in Paris featuring a sculpture of six soldiers carrying a coffin that cannot be seen.
The monument to those who died for France in external operations was inaugurated on November 11, 2019 in the heart of the Eugénie Djendi garden (Resistance fighter, deported and executed at Ravensbrück). It is the witness of the Nation's recognition of the ultimate sacrifice of the combatants engaged since 1963 in the various theatres. Composed of two central elements, the monument represents six anonymous bearers, carrying an invisible coffin. Their uniforms symbolize the entire military community. A wall reveals the names of the soldiers who died for France in overseas operations
Free access to the memorial. Possibility of guided tours for groups on reservation. Cultural activities during the European Heritage Days.
