THE BIR-HAKEIM BRIDGE
The Bir-Hakeim bridge, with beautiful cast iron sculptures of Nautes and Blacksmiths riveters in Paris.
Long known as the Passy Viaduct, the structure was renamed after the 1942 victory of the Free French Forces over the Germans in Libya. The first metal footbridge, built in 1878, was replaced in 1903 by the current viaduct, which carries the trains of metro line 6. The alignment of viaduct pylons surmounts the bridge's piers, which feature beautiful cast-iron sculptures of "Nautes" and "Forgerons riveurs". The central bas-reliefs are allegories of Science, Labour, Electricity and Commerce.

La structure métallique soutenant le métro aérien est originale et très belle.
