THE ATLANTIC GARDEN
The Atlantic Garden covers the tracks of the Montparnasse train station in Paris.
Surrounded and limited by the impressive blocks of flats that line the railroad tracks, this large garden covers the tracks of the Montparnasse station! Since 1994, it has rested on a slab supported by twelve arch piers. At the centre of its large lawn is the "Ile des Hespérides", a strange installation consisting of weather-measuring instruments and a large mirror, which illuminates a pool. On either side of the lawn are trees growing on the European and American shores of the Atlantic Ocean.
