HÔTEL RAPHAËL * * * * *
Hotel in a luxury setting with large rooms and suites, chic and cosy bar, restaurant and terrace with trees.
Hôtel Raphaël is an authentic palace for they are nowadays few in Paris, and in the world. As soon as you enter the grand gallery, you come in contact with a beautiful decor: antique paintings including a painting by Turner, wood panelling, gildings, piers, red and blue romantic armchairs, English-style or Louis XV furniture. This setting of luxury dates back to 1900 and still belongs to the family of its creator. Many great personalities of the world have been here and many movies were shot in this Grand Siècle. The rooms and suites have large spaces, the wood panelling are painted or sculpted, the silky fabrics, Louis XV and Louis XVI furniture are decorated with bronze, and luxury and voluptuousness mark each space. The bar, which was Gainsbourg's favourite, is elegant and refined, the restaurant is decorated in paintings inspired from the works of Hubert Robert. The tablecloths are spotless, the silverware and crystal chandeliers makes this hotel more attractive. On sunny days seasonal menus are served in "Les jardins plein ciel", a beautiful garden terrace on the roof that offers Paris at a 360°. A giant chessboard was created in tribute to Leonard Tauber, the founder of the Hôtel and the France chess Club.
