ANPCEN is a non-profit association to promote, through a wide network of regional correspondents, the defense of the sky and the night environment. To this end, it informs about problems related to inadequate night lighting and/or poor quality (e. g., too powerful and misguided lamps), and their impact on the environment (biodiversity and human health) and energy waste. It is also on the initiative of the "Towns and Villages" that read the efforts of municipalities to improve their public lighting. Anyone interested in astronomy understands at the outset the interest of such an association! It is because of its efforts that regional and national decision makers realize that it is possible to coexist with lighting and environmental protection. It also provides individuals with all the information to discuss and argue with a city hall about the establishment of lamps in the municipality.
