BIBLIOTHÈQUE DU TOURISME ET DES VOYAGES – GERMAINE TILLION
For readers of Le Petit Futé, traditionally attracted by foreigners, the "culture of tourism and travel" is fundamental. So this library is made for them! The collection of the library of the Touring Club de France, an association that contributed to the development of tourism in France between 1891 and 1983, forms the basis, which is now obviously updated, of this municipal establishment where you can consult or borrow a title from 35,000 printed documents. These documents are divided into:
A current collection: 15,000 tourist guides, illustrated books, travel stories and maps, freely accessible or on loan at home, on all countries in the world and accompanied by specialized studies and reviews on tourism (such as Espaces, Tour Hebdo, L'Écho touristique, La Gazette officielle du tourisme, Géo, etc.).
A heritage collection: 20,000 documents from the conservation collection (books, old tourist guides, magazines and maps), available for consultation on site, covering all aspects of tourism, from the discovery of a region or country to the sociological and economic study of tourism and in particular the different forms of travel: by bicycle, car, rail, boat, on foot... These documents range from the 19th century to 1983.
