A cemetery set in a vast terrace, housing tombs, mausoleums, crypts and chapels of various styles and periods.

Created in 1820, this cemetery is located on a large terrace overlooking the Place du Trocadéro. Its flowering beds and trees adorn some 2 600 tombs, tombs, crypts and chapels of various styles and periods, many of which are monumental, decorated with bas-relief, statues and marble medallions, bronze, stone, wrought iron… It is home to a number of distinguished guests: artists, great names in finance of politics or industry. Here are Debussy, Fauré, Manet, Giraudoux, Cognacq-Jay, Louis Renault, Marcel Dassault, Georges Mandel, Edgar Faure, Tristan Bernard, Alexandre Millerand, Jean-Louis Barrault, Madeleine Renaud, Fernandel… Among the countless examples of burial art dotting the cemetery, retain this reproduction in white marble of the Piétà that Michel-Ange sculpted for the church Saint-Pierre in Rome, reproducing the tomb of Baron Pierre de Perényi in the 10 th division.

This was a super cool place to walk around and see the old names that were popular. Coming from the U.S. it’s very interesting to see how far the dates go back to. It’s free to just walk in. Unfortunately, we got there 20 minutes until close so we didn’t get to explore quite enough, but I’d definitely recommend it!

Neben dem Trocadero gelegen. Hier spürt man nichts vom großen Trubel nebenan..
