LA CASCADE DU BOIS DE BOULOGNE
Visit the park where 35 young members of various Resistance organizations were shot by the Gestapo on August 16, 1944
On August 16, 1944, 35 young members of various Resistance organizations were shot near Paris by the Gestapo, having fallen into a trap set by a bogus agent. Their mission to transport weapons led to their deaths. Each year, this event is commemorated at the site of the tragedy, in the Bois de Boulogne, which was also heavily damaged by the Second World War, particularly the bombings of 1943. Trees replanted in memory of the event were uprooted by the storm of 1999.
