A building with a beautifully curved metal entrance, sculpted columns, and iron seahorses adorning the façade
Its detractors have nicknamed it the "castel dérangé". This building, constructed in the 1890s, is the work of Hector Guimard, designer of the first metro stations. A highly representative Art Nouveau architect, he designed the building to break with classical forms, employing relative asymmetry in the placement of the windows, for example. Don't fail to admire the beautifully biscornuate metal entrance door, the sculpted columns that accompany it, the iron seahorses that adorn the façade, and so on.
