This museum will give you the opportunity to familiarise yourself with current and future maritime issues.

The reopening of the Musée de la Marine was without doubt one of the major cultural highlights of autumn 2023: completely renovated, it has regained its place among the great Parisian museums, and with good reason! After no less than six years of extensive renovation work, we're offering you a completely new tour. Previously, the tour was organised by era, but now it's themed, with a marked desire to make the scenography completely immersive. There are 4 "stops" and 3 "crossings" along the way. Discover the models (one of the site's signatures), some of which measure 5 meters! Then we invite you to see how people navigated at sea before the advent of modern technology: quite an adventure. Then there are the naval sculptures, which adorned the ships and showed off the power of the French kingdom: a succession of impressive masterpieces, which feature on the painted representations of French ports, your fourth and final stop. Then it's time for the "crossings": you begin with an immersion in the port of Le Havre - France's largest - covering themes such as consumerism, global shipping routes and passenger transport. Then, after passing under a very realistic wave that feels like it's going to sweep you away, the theme of shipwrecks and storms, raising your awareness of marine hazards in all their forms. Finally, French naval power, from the Middle Ages to the present day, is the subject of the last "crossing", with an emphasis on current technological innovations. The "La Boussole" tour application will guide you through the entire tour. After such a visit, it's easy to understand why it took so many years to completely renovate the site. In addition to the redesigned museography and the redesigned location, the objects, paintings and models have all undergone extensive restoration work in accordance with the rules of the art (most of the exhibits are centuries old). Of course, we can't recommend a visit to the museum to anyone who loves the sea. As the show is a great success, be sure to book your tickets well in advance.
