Lyon industrialist Emile Guimet (1836-1918) brought back priceless treasures from his travels and had this museum built in Paris in 1889. From room to room, you'll discover Central Asia, the Greco-Bactrian Buddhist kingdom, the Indus Valley, the Nepalese and Tibetan Himalayas, Indochina and the Kingdom of Siam, the Middle Kingdom, the Korean Peninsula, Japan... A state-of-the-art auditorium is also available, as well as a splendid rooftop.

Nous avons visité ce musée un jour de grande chaleur car il est parfaitement climatisé.Musée complet sur le sujet et les objets sont bien documentés par des grands cartons à emprunter dans chaque salle. Il y a peu de videos didactiques pour les enfants.Un restaurant asiatique de qualité correcte est situé dans le musée. Ne pas oublier d'aller visiter l'annexe, riche en meubles asiatiques, à deux pas du musée.
