Lyon industrialist Emile Guimet (1836-1918) brought back priceless treasures from his travels and had this museum built in Paris in 1889. From room to room, you'll discover Central Asia, the Greco-Bactrian Buddhist kingdom, the Indus Valley, the Nepalese and Tibetan Himalayas, Indochina and the Kingdom of Siam, the Middle Kingdom, the Korean Peninsula, Japan... A state-of-the-art auditorium is also available, as well as a splendid rooftop.

Dès l'entrée, on est aspiré par les oeuvres gigantesques. Dépaysement assuré pour les amoureux des arts asiatiques. De nombreuses explications permettent de mieux cerner les oeuvres, on y retournera.

Museum has modern layout, very pleasant strolls. The rooms are enhanced by a particularly neat lighting. Temporary exhibitions are often remarkable and add a touch of modernity to the collections.

L’un des plus beaux musées de Paris consacrés à l’art asiatique. Nombreuses salles et oeuvres d’art. Les expos temporaires sont en général très bien (l’expo Angkor fin 2013 était magnifique). En bonus, une belle boutique à la fin de la visite (très beaux livres sur l’art asiatique). A voir.

Certainly one of the best museums than I could make to date. The place is spacious and bright enough pays the pleasant visit. Rich and impressive collections on several levels. The temporary exhibitions are also very interesting. I recommend it not hesitate to all passionate Asian culture including to those wishing to discover it.
