A visit to the Saint-Jean-De-Montmartre church in Paris, featuring a lovely altar decorated with ceramics and red bricks
Don't be fooled by its red-brick exterior - the interior has plenty to surprise you! The first religious building in Paris to be constructed in concrete, it was designed in 1904, and its altar is beautifully decorated with ceramics by Alexandre Bigot, who designed the ceramics for the Hôtel Lavirotte. Although today the church is part of Parisian heritage, this was not the case at the time of its construction: the religious authorities ordered trials for non-conformity.
