THE WALL OF I LOVE YOU
A site built from 511 tiles on which the colour chips represent the pieces of a broken heart in Paris.
We know all the locks at the Arts Bridge in the 5th arrondissement, but we know less "The Wall of the I Love You". And yet it also celebrates Paris, a city of lovers. In 1992, Frédéric Baron, a photographer, dreams of a tour of the world dedicated to lovers. First, he asks his brother and then foreign neighbours to write these words of love in their language. He gathers a thousand "I love you" written in more than three hundred languages and dialects around the world. With the help of the calligrapher Claire Kitto, he assembles all these writings and imagines reproducing them on a wall. "The Wall of the I Love You" is built on 40 square meters with 511 tiles in enamelled lava, on which shards of colour represent the pieces of a broken heart.
