An authentic neighbourhood bistro, this is Valentin, a stone's throw from Buttes-Chaumont. At the helm is the smiling Michel, who distils a simple, family-style cuisine that doesn't hesitate to travel - to Auvergne, South America and Thailand. The charcuterie and cheeses come from the former; the bife - a rib-eye steak - originates from Argentina; and the shrimps and beef salads come with an exotic Thai sauce. Customers know that this is traditional territory, and they appreciate it.

How lovely is this place ? Such a warm welcoming place , even on a busy Saturday night . I’ve been meaning to come here for a while as have often walked past when I’m in Belleville , finally went in a few weeks ago . Wasn’t disappointed , the staff are very friendly , there’s a good lively atmosphere and mix of people . The food is pretty hearty , so if you’ve very specific food restrictions maybe check out the menu first .
