ESPACE PÉRIPHÉRIQUE
For decades, this space has been dedicated to circus arts. Although, from 1974 to 2002, the famous Fratellini Academy occupied the space (before going to Saint-Denis), it left behind its famous marquee. Illico, La Villette and the City of Paris took over, re-organising the place with one goal: it will be a place for resident artists in the disciplines of street art, track, puppetry and contemporary circus. Beneath the ring road - hence its name - the place is surrounded by roads, railways and canals: easy to access, therefore, but totally unexpected for the one who comes for the first time! And yet, the Espace Périphérique deserves to be known, because it is a very active and lively place. Like for example the representations offered to an ever-increasing audience and the opening of its installations during the European Heritage Open Days.
