THÉÂTRE PARIS-VILLETTE
The Paris-Villette theatre is one of the municipal theatres of the capital which it is dedicated to the creation of contemporary French plays. The creations of Georges Aperghis, Joel Pommerat, Philippe Minyana, Daniel Emilfork, Agota Kristof or the late Jean-Luc Lagarce have amazed the place in recent years. Today, more than ever, theatre is being created, thought and played here. This theatre is located in a building of neo-classical architecture that housed the Leather Exchange of the old slaughterhouses, and in the early 1970s it was called the Present Theatre. For the record, it is the only cultural establishment in La Villette to operate while the slaughterhouses were still in operation. With its 3 rooms, 30 to 200 seats, the structure also welcomes resident-artists at Grand Parquet which is at about twenty-minute walk, on the edge of Jardin d'Eole in the 18th district.
