CENTRE NATIONAL DES SOINS PALLIATIFS ET DE LA FIN DE VIE
Created on 5 January 2016 by decree, the National Centre for Palliative and End-of-Life Care (CNSPFV) brought together the teams of the National End-of-Life Observatory and the National Palliative Care Resource Centre. Its mission is to contribute to a better understanding of end-of-life conditions and palliative care, to participate in the monitoring of public policies relating to palliative care and the end of life, and to inform the general public and professionals. Funded by the public authorities, it is primarily aimed at the general public as well as at all professionals working with people at the end of life in hospitals, homes or institutions. The CNSPFV has a documentary portal VigiPallia, with about 30,000 specialized references, bibliographies, summaries, etc. The center is also present in the field, both in Paris and in the provinces, in the form of evenings where citizens can ask questions and express their concerns about the end of life; the professionals present answer them. By bringing together the general public and professionals in public places, the CNSPFV enables an open dialogue on palliative care and end-of-life issues. Hosted and managed by the Œuvre de la Croix Saint-Simon Foundation, in early 2018 it published the first edition of the Atlas of palliative and end-of-life care in France, which brings together reliable and exhaustive data from national databases. This document provides an illustrated overview of the end of life and the development of palliative care on a national and regional scale.
