Sitting on a large esplanade, this fountain was used to irrigate the animals that were led to the Grande Halle de La Villette. Dating back to 1811, it was originally located on the Château-d'Eau Square - the current place of the Republic - before it was expanded. It was moved to 1867. Designed by Pierre-Simon Girard, it consists of a large cauldron and lions spitting water.
