CITÉ DES SCIENCES ET DE L’INDUSTRIE
A city of science and industry, where you can unravel many mysteries and discover permanent exhibitions.
It's one of Europe's largest science museums, offering adults and children alike the chance to discover planets, the Milky Way and galaxies, as well as a variety of exhibits devoted to the Earth, technological innovations, sounds, images, light, mathematics, genetics... Initially, the vast structure was dedicated to slaughterhouses, but as soon as it was completed, it was closed following various financial scandals. An empty vessel for many years, in the 1980s it became a landmark in the north-east of the capital. While its permanent exhibitions are a benchmark among science museums, the Cité offers many other possibilities. While the planetarium's activities take you into a distant universe, the Cité des enfants (itself divided into two parts, depending on the age of the little visitors) is a destination in its own right: your little ones will be introduced to science through a wide range of workshops and activities. The complex is regularly animated by conferences and temporary exhibitions, and also boasts a large library, itself a reference in the field. The Géode, a cinema in the shape of a metal ball, is dedicated exclusively to the projection of large-format films on a 1,000 m² hemispherical screen. At the far end of the building is Boom Boom Villette, a lively venue featuring a food court, escape game, bowling, games, skydiving and cinema.
