INSTITUT FRANÇAIS DE YOGA
IFY celebrates its 30 years in 2013. This institute is one of the major players in yoga in France. Created in 1983 by a group of teachers trained by T.K.V. Desikachar, son and pupil of Sri Tirumalai Krishnamacharya (1888-1989), the founder of today's yoga, the Institute is committed to promoting the study and practice of yoga in all its dimensions, in a living transmission, taking into account the aspirations, needs, particularities, of the time, of the place and culture of each person. The teaching of Yoga at IFY goes through the implementation of Patañjali Yoga Sutra, which form the basis of this plurimillénaire discipline. It is inspired by the Indian master Krishnamacharya, who advocates the respect of the individual and his culture. The concept of krama krama is at the very heart of this personalization of yoga, which is to know its own starting point to better define its objective and to make every effort to achieve it. This strategy of success can be integrated through the regular practice of yoga. IFY is a corresponding member of the European Yoga Union (UEY). The IFY brings together teachers, associations and even trainers.
