Establishment producing homemade charcuterie, smoked fish, foie gras, and a menu of classic dishes.

It has been there since 1894, but has undergone a serious transformation! A beautiful authentic facade, and a new management team, because the daughters of Dominique Loï, Lucie and Fanny, take charge of the address. Fine dishes, delicatessen products nestled on the shelves and the old furniture. You will find all the ingredients necessary for a party meal, up to wines, champagnes and spirits whose selection is as wide as quality! The house specialises in foie gras, candies, smoked fish, homemade deli meats, and has a rare sense of service. And Le Comptoir de la Gastronomie is also a gourmet stopover where you can dig through a menu of unmissable classic dishes that have made the reputation of the site, and a seasonal menu. You can enjoy great boards there, but also classics, like the duck confit parmentier, the duck foie gras ravioli or the gratinated cassoulet. It is good, copious and very popular - nothing more normal.

From the moment we entered the historic establishment, we're greeted by the tantalizing aroma of rich, flavorful dishes and the sight of expertly crafted delicacies lining the shelves of the bustling delicatessen.

We started our meal with an indulgent appetizer such as escargot, served in a garlic and parsley butter sauce, and foie gras, delicately seared to perfection and paired with a sweet and tangy chutney.

For the main course, we indulged in a tender duck confit, served with crispy golden potatoes and a rich, flavorful jus, and savored the hearty goodness of beef bourguignon, simmered slowly in red wine until it's meltingly tender and bursting with flavour.

The main highlight is of course its famous foie gras, which is considered among the best in Paris. The restaurant offers a variety of foie gras dishes, including seared foie gras, foie gras terrine, and foie gras ravioli, each one showcasing the luxurious texture and rich flavor of this iconic French delicacy.

When served seared, the foie gras is expertly caramelized to perfection, creating a crispy exterior that gives way to a velvety, creamy center. It's a symphony of textures and flavors, with the buttery richness of the foie gras perfectly complemented by the sweet and tangy accompaniments.

The foie gras terrine is another standout dish, featuring silky-smooth foie gras delicately layered and infused with a blend of spices and seasonings. Served with crusty bread or toasted brioche, it's a decadent indulgence that is sure to impress even the most discerning palate.

For a unique twist on a classic, try the foie gras ravioli, where tender pasta pockets are filled with creamy foie gras and served in a flavorful broth or sauce. Each bite is a burst of flavor and elegance, showcasing the versatility and sophistication of this beloved ingredient.

In addition to its restaurant offerings, they also offers a wide range of gourmet products in its delicatessen, allowing visitors to bring a taste of France home with them. From artisanal cheeses and charcuterie to fine wines, truffles, and specialty condiments, the delicatessen is a treasure trove of culinary delights waiting to be discovered.

Whether you're dining in at the restaurant or exploring the delicatessen, a visit here is a feast for the senses that celebrates the rich culinary heritage of France. With its impeccable service, exquisite offerings, and warm hospitality, it's no wonder that this iconic establishment continues to be a beloved destination for food lovers from around the world.

Very busy restaurant but staff are relatively efficient. Love the ravioli. Serves tap water and it is not chargeable. Rain was splattering for some of those seated outside and staff was prompt to shift the affected patrons to shelter, that was a pretty good gesture. Seats inside (except for bar table) seem to be reserved, highly suggest to reserve in advance.
