Built in 1723 by Pierre Perrin, Secretary of the Sun King, this private mansion became a private residence and administrative headquarters and then in 1842 embassy of the young republic of Texas, whose first to recognize independence. In 1998, the Hotel de Vendôme underwent a renewal and restored its past splendour.
