SUNSET – SUNSIDE
At the beginning, there was a restaurant. In 1983, live jazz musicians encouraged bosses to create a club in the vaulted cellar of the establishment. This will be the first to open in the rue des Lombards, now emblematic jazz in Paris. Sunset had a fusion period, and then opened to all forms that jazz can take. Wynton Marsalis, Benny Golson, Steve Lacy, Brad Mehldau, Michel Petrucciani, Didier Lockwood, Henri Texier, Aldo Romano…: about all the great American, French and other musicians came to play here. Some intense moments remain in the memory of the places, including the unexpected passages of Jaco Pastorius, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock… In 2001, the restaurant is replaced by the Sunside, the second club of this address. It is dedicated to acoustic jazz, while Sunset is dedicated to electric power. Each of the two clubs contains a hundred people.
