This pyramid, designed by architect Pei between 1985 and 1989, is the centrepiece of the Grand Louvre.

It is the centrepiece of the Grand Louvre. Designed by François Mitterrand and built by architect Pei, it was inaugurated in March 1989. At the time, the building was a clear improvement, since it was necessary to facilitate public access by creating a new reception hall. With a height of 21.64 m and a base of 35.42 m, the pyramid is made of glass and metal. Three other pyramids act as skylights leading into the main hall. Almost 35 years after its inauguration, its presence is inseparable from the Louvre.

The modern glass pyramid finally found its place in the center of buildings from another era and there majestically stands.
It is quite funny to observe people stir in stage to photograph themselves with the pyramid.
It is also the gateway to the Louvre museum.
Just opposite you can continue in the Jardin des Tuileries.
