The oldest bridge in Paris, comprising two sections linked by a median strip, offers a pleasant promenade.
This is the oldest bridge in Paris. Inaugurated in 1607 by Henri IV, its construction had begun under Henri III. At the time, it was the epitome of novelty, being devoid of houses (unlike other bridges) and featuring sidewalks and small half-moon balconies. The 232 m bridge is made up of two sections linked by a median strip, one overlooking the Place Dauphine and the other the Place du Pont-Neuf. Below, the Square du Vert-Galant offers a pleasant stroll along the western tip of the Île de la Cité.
