The Opéra Comique is one of France's oldest theatrical and musical institutions. In 2005, it became one of 6 national theaters, and in 2014, the musical genre officially celebrated its 300th anniversary. The first site, named Opéra Comique, was opened in 1783. The current building is the third Salle Favart, inaugurated in 1898. Bizet's Carmen premiered at the Opéra Comique in 1875. Since the end of 2021, conductor Louis Langrée has been at the helm of the Opéra Comique, with a program combining classics and new works.
