The Franco-Swedish Foundation or Svensk-Franska Språkfonden was established in 1979 by the Swedish Government to affirm cooperation between the Swedish State, Swedish industry and France, by encouraging trade and industrial exchanges. It acts under the supervision of its Supervisory Board and is administered by Business Sweden, whose members are representatives of both the Swedish and French Governments and actors in the trade and industry world. The Swedish Government, as well as the French Embassy in Sweden, Business Sweden, the Federation of Swedish Industries and the Swedish Importers Association (Svensk Handel), appoint the members of the Council.
The Foundation offers 30 awards each year for employees of Swedish import-export companies. The program gives participants keys to success in their collaboration with French: by improving their knowledge of the French language, following in-depth training on sales and negotiation techniques, management in France and communication. Scholarships take care of participation and teaching costs. Companies, for their part, pay the travel, stay and training time for each participant.
