This basilica, dedicated to the Virgin Mary, is the main building on the Place des Petits-Pères (the name given to the Augustins). Louis XIII's wish for a victory over the Protestants was granted, and he decided to build it in 1629. It took almost a hundred years to complete. In addition to its south-facing facade and two-order portal, the interior is richly decorated with monumental paintings by Carl Van Loo.

Cette basilique toute proche de la place des Victoires a une façade assez classique mais elle renferme beaucoup de trésors artistiques notamment un magnifique bénitier en marbre et de beaux bas-reliefs dans les chapelles latérales.
Dès qu'on pénètre à l'intérieur on est frappé par l'atmosphère de forte dévotion qui règne dans ce lieu de culte.
Les murs sont couverts par un nombre limpressionnant d'ex-voto.
