THE COURT OF MIRACLES
The Court of Miracles is a place full of history. A former thief of thieves and riders, she has been the scene of many adventures. Already in the Middle Ages, the Rue Neuve Saint-Sauveur, currently rue du Nile, welcomed all the jams, blind and false pilgrims (the "shells"). In the evening, they took possession of the places and led their way of life not very Catholic, hence the name "Court of Miracles"! The rue des Forges, which connects Damiette Street to the rue du Nile, forms a courtyard in the city. Many sovereigns tried to dislodge the destitute from there to build a halle of the tide, because the seafood came through that part of the city. But the mareymen did not deceive themselves and refused to settle in such a bad place and the market never lived. Forges settled there and gave one of the streets its name today. In 1784, we decided to shave the houses of the Court of Miracles in order to remove this miserable neighborhood from the map.
