PLACE DES VICTOIRES
The Place des Victoires has been given a circular shape to reproduce a solar disk, the emblem of Louis XIV
Place des Victoires is one of Paris's most elegant squares. This is certainly due to its round shape and the classical facades of the buildings that line it. Designed and built by Louis XIV's architect, Jules Hardouin-Mansart, it was inaugurated in 1686. Its aesthetics help to perpetuate the charm of this site, which served as a model for the design of squares in several French cities. The majestic equestrian statue of Louis XIV, by François-Joseph Bosio, dates from 1822.
