LE RÉPUBLIQUE
This cabaret is an institution of the Republic. Known as the Caveau de la République until 2014, it became the Republic. Here we have songwriters, i.e. satirical commentators on current political events. It is an old tradition that was established in this basement in 1901. Charles Bouvet, the creator of the place, opened a cabaret inspired by the goguettes of the last century. At its location there was a farm called La Vacherie, you can't make that up. In this 450-seat venue, a new wave of comedians and actors has been able to make themselves known over the past twenty years, including the now famous Laurent Ruquier, Laurent Gerra and François Morel. Each evening, the show features six artists, some of whom are confirmed by newcomers. The pianist Sylvain Coudene accompanies the spirit traits of the songwriters of this theatre who are not, contrary to what one might think, deity of the Republic...
