MUSÉE DE LA CHASSE ET DE LA NATURE (MUSEUM OF HUNTING AND NATURE)
Museum featuring works by Corot, Chardin and Desportes.
The collections are on display in the salons of the 18th-century Hôtel de Mongelas and those of the adjoining Hôtel Guénégaud (built by François Mansart in the mid-17th century). They are organized around two themes. The first, "L'image de l'animal" ("The image of the animal"), presents the changing status of wild animals from Antiquity to the present day. Several rooms are devoted to an emblematic animal (wild boar, dog, wolf...) and its representation in paintings, sculptures, tapestries or ceramics - works by Cranach, Derain, Jan Fabre, Koons... Trophies are also on display. The second theme, "Art and the Hunt", presents weapons and works dedicated to hunting. It includes works by Corot, Chardin and Desportes.
