An establishment with an authentic decor of stone and wood that has met with great success with its all-you-can-eat buffet.
Beware, institution in sight! Nos Ancêtres les Gaulois was originally a mere group of friends who created a poetry and song club with a buffet in the late 1960s, and who, in the face of the general enthusiasm, decided to expand to receive ever more happy dining. We still have access through the same small door as in the beginning, but the establishment now extends over three buildings dating from the 16th and 17th centuries and consists of a maze of themed rooms ("Tente Gauloise" - Gallic Tent, "Salle d'armes" - armoury, "Taverne" - Tavern) authentically decorated with stone and wood. The recipe for success? A buffet where quality products are available for guests: basket of vegetables on the table, then grilled meat over a wood fire, roasted or barbecued chicken, cheese, basket of fresh fruit, homemade desserts, flowing Bordeaux wines afloat from the barrel. This is very similar to banquets at the end of Asterix and Obelix adventure, except that here, the bard has the right to brighten the guests with his guitar. More than a "great food", it is a real experience, in which each one will be delighted.

The ratings and reviews below reflect the subjective opinions of members and not the opinion of The Little Witty.
Location: is very particular, with some medieval style drawings on the walls. Unfortunately the dining room in the ground floor, where we were eating, is very small and surrounded by the desk of the bar and the kitchen that, being part of the room, is letting clients with a strong smell of grilling meat. Maybe a table on the second floor would be a better choice.
Service: the 2 persons serving were nice and super active. Unfortunately the quality of the service was a bit messy and improvised: the table clothes removed from the previous clients were cumulated here and there, the orders being delivered to the tables originated some noisy discussions between the person in the kitchen and the waiter, and lastly the “chef” was, not getting into details, not properly dressed for being in the kitchen of a Restaurant in the center of Paris. Bill could have been appropriate to what we ordered, but quality was not at the same Level. All in all, the this restaurant is over-rated. I have found more balanced the ratings given to „Petit Baccus“, the previous Name of the Restaurant (still reported on the bill you get)
