GARDEN OF THE EUROPEAN HOUSE OF PHOTOGRAPHY
A Japanese-inspired garden created to preserve contemporary photography and exhibiting sixteen thousand photos by artists.
The main purpose of this European photography is to preserve contemporary photography. The permanent exhibition ranges from the late 1950 s to the present, with nearly sixteen thousand photos of artists such as Robert Frank, Raymond Depardon or Henri Cartier-Bresson. MEP also has an immense Japanese-inspired space. Created by photographer Keiichi Tahara, the "niwa" garden tries to combine spirituality and art. Visiting it is an experience in itself, the calm that reigns there is a real happiness. The light game it produces recalls the photographs of the past. An interpretation of the Yin and yang symbol can be observed: indeed, two tablecloths of small black and white pebbles are separated by a curve line.
