As its name indicates, Hôtel des Academies et des Arts is dedicated to artistic creation. First, because this boutique hotel is set up in the street of Montparnasse where Modigliani had his workshop. Then, because it is located just opposite the famous Académie de la Grande Chaumière, where Gauguin, Giacometti, Foujita and many others succeeded one another... The building was transformed into a hotel shortly after the death of the artist in 1920 but it experienced a true renewal only when Charlotte, a journalist, and Laurent Inchauspe, a filmmaker, bought it.
