LIBRAIRIE DES FEMMES
In 1974, Antoinette Fouque, co-founder of the Women's Liberation movement, created the Women's Editions as well as a bookstore of the same name. Originally installed at rue des Saint-Pères then rue de Seine, and now at rue Jacob, extending over almost 100m². Concerning the bookstore, you will find a general selection of works, written by, for or about women: Political essays to the humanities, psychoanalysis to art books, theatre to philosophy through the romantic works of yesterday and today until the detective novel. And among all the wealth of these creations, a pioneer collection: the Library of the Voices, combining major texts with great actresses such as Catherine Deneuve, Fanny Ardant or Isabelle Huppert. A collection that you will undoubtedly not find the completeness elsewhere! Then, you will have to cross a pleasant courtyard to discover the second vast and bright space. Dedicated to pictorial or photographic exhibitions, it is also the ideal place to benefit from concerts, to discuss news or attend readings followed by signatures. Many authors have already been there, including Danielle Mitterrand, Christine Orban or Marisa Berenson. In a nutshell, and to continue with, Antoinette Fouque who is the instigator of the place, will teach you about "feminology", a science concerning the creation and the lives of women.
