La Palette is the Saint-Germain of artists since 1903 and still today, this Parisian café is surrounded by more or less prestigious galleries – but a bit more nevertheless – and within walking distance of the Beaux-Arts. La Palette is now mostly visited for its terrace overlooking rue Jacques-Callot, so calm that you could take it for a pedestrian area. The interior is pleasant: a zinc, two rooms, many old pallets on the walls and some frescoes. Artists, merchants of arts, celebrities and students mix together for a drink savouring a guillotine, the house specialty, Poilâne bread ham tapas, cantal. Plan to arrive a little early because La Palette is quickly overcrowded (there is a queue almost every evening!). A safe bet of the area. Some might even say it is a must. You can obviously order a drink there but also "pallets" of charcuteries and other delicious dishes.

On the other hand, plan to arrive a little advance, the restaurant is always full, and a queue at the entrance is formed quickly!
