Founded in 1980 and recognized as a public utility in 1985, FAPEE is the only specific federation of parents of French educational establishments abroad. It is independent of any political, trade union or religious affiliation and includes associations of parents of pupils and lone parents, particularly those whose children are following distance education (CNED).
FAPEE sits on the Board of Directors of the French Overseas Education agency (FRENCH) and the National awards commission. It regularly informs its members (newspaper, info points, website), advises them and supports them in their dealings with the guardianship authorities.
