The abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Prés was the owner of a vast agricultural estate, and enjoyed a long existence from the 6th century until the French Revolution. All that remains today is the abbey palace (16th century, rue de l'Abbaye) and the church. Major restoration work was carried out in the 19th century, notably by Victor Baltard, then more recently, from 2015-16, to renovate almost all the 19th-century painted decor. The result is absolutely dazzling.

L'église vous plaira par sa grande tour sur la façade, mais aussi par ses peintures du 19e siècle à l'intérieur, un peu dommage pour les amateurs de style gothique pur mais assez bien restaurées.

Jolie abbaye vue de l'extérieur. Mais ce qui vaut le détour est encore plus l'intérieur, qui vient d'être restauré. Les étoiles de la voute du choeur ont retrouvé leur éclat, les couleurs des colonnes (rouge, bleu...) ont été ravivées.

La simplicité de cette petite église massive est bien intégrée à l'esprit contrasté du quartier. L'intérieur mérite une visite, comme celle du petit square pour bien voir les arcs-boutants.

Jolie petite église au sein du quartier de Saint Germain des Prés. Les vitraux sont vraiment très beaux.
Le square attenant y est très agréable pour une pause pique nique.
