Parisian bistro with a traditional decor, a renewed slate and a good quality-price ratio.

Nestled between rue de Babylone and boulevard Raspail, this traditionally decorated Parisian bistro is the den of Jean-Baptiste Gay who offers a daily renewed slate menu consisting of 7 starters, 7 main courses and 7 desserts. The cuisine of this pastry chef who made his first kitchen classes alongside starred chefs, is bistronomic, that is to say a traditional and rustic but revisited and, above all, modernised cuisine. For example, as a starter, we think of piquillo with fresh goat cheese and basil and, as a main course, beef chuck and its candied carrots with orange and cumin. At the end of the meal, the chocolate cake, vanilla ice-cream or the pan-fried raspberry, pistachio ice-cream will not ruin your pleasure, it is quite the contrary. Very good value for money for the district.

Très bonne cuisine avec de bons produits. Service sympa et à l’écoute.
En revanche je trouve le prix un petit peu trop élevé.

Outside of my Michelin Stars Challenge, I also try the non Star Michelin which are just in the guide.

This one is an honest and fair example. It’s not looking for Star but just a good well made quite simple bistrot. It’s nice n the less elegant and good. So it’s perfect if you don’t want a Michelin night but just a pleasant meal in a relaxed atmosphere.
The salad is simple but very nice. The baba a good example of what a good classical baba is.
Solid non star

We paid 112 euro for 1 tiny starter, 2 tiny mains, 2 glasses of wine and 1 bottle of water. The service was non-existing for us, and quite unpleasant for others around us. We waited forever for our mains, to have 3 spoons of food (this is the exact quantity of risotto, which costed 31 euro). The high cost and small quantity of the dishes could have been compensated with an amazing taste and execution, but it was not the case either. So, I’m having a very hard time to understand, why this restaurant’s rating is so high. Because it’s delusional and robbery. When you pay 112 euro for what we had, leaving the restaurant completely hungry, you have a feeling that smth was not right

I can’t believe I forgot to rate this amazing place in Paris! We had the skirt steak with potatoes and a delicious light red wine recommended for us. It was the best we’ve had! Cannot wait to come back and dine here again. It’s just down the block from our amazing hotel Signature St Germain and I don’t think it should be rated 4.4. Service was also wonderful. Quiet little bistro in a busy city was a great way to wind down before venturing to the airport!

What a find! If you are near Bon Marche and want to grab a bite, don't bother looking. Other places may have better 'see and be seen' tables, but if you care about honest, high quality French cuisine, this is the place to go. All very simple but super fresh and we'll executed. Had a spectacular veal kidney there, like only the French can do. Ambience is super classic and a bit retro (welcome to 1988?), but it adds to the charme.
