LIRE ET FAIRE LIRE
The coordinators of the Ligue de l'Enseignement and the Union Nationale des Associations Familiales (UNAF) networks develop Lire et Faire Lire in each department. The functioning of this association is simple and friendly. In line with the school's project and teaching practices, and at the request of the teacher or leader, volunteers over the age of 50 are called upon to offer their time to encourage children to read and thus promote their approach to literature. The sessions are organized in small groups, throughout the year, once or several times a week, around the pleasure of reading. It is around and through the Charters of the reader and that of the educational structures that each partner commits. The objectives of Lire et faire lire are complementary. The first, educational and cultural, is in line with the priorities of the French Ministry of Education concerning the development of reading and language skills - it also helps to promote children's literature among children and to discover our literary heritage. The other objective emphasizes the importance of intergenerational exchange, encouraging meetings and dialogue between children and pensioners.
