ORGANISATION INTERNATIONALE DE LA FRANCOPHONIE
The International Organisation of la Francophonie (OIF) was established by the Niamey Convention of 20 March 1970 under the name of the Agency for Cultural and Technical Cooperation (ACCT). Today, the OIF has the task of providing active solidarity among the 84 states and governments that make it up (58 members and 26 observers). This Francophone community promotes the sharing of a language, French, and its universal values. The OIF aims to help improve the standard of living of its people by helping them become actors in their own development. It provides its member states with support in the development or consolidation of their policies and conducts actions of international policy and multilateral cooperation, in accordance with the 4 major missions drawn up by the Summit of La Francophonie:
Promote the French language and cultural and linguistic diversity.
Promoting peace, democracy and human rights.
Support education, training, higher education and research.
Develop cooperation for sustainable development.
