The Saint-Louis-des-Invalides and Dôme churches form a complex that was designed by the architect Jules Hardouin-Mansart.

Built under the reign of Louis XIV, the Saint-Louis-des-Invalides cathedral and the Église du Dôme form an ensemble designed by architect Jules Hardouin-Mansart. For reasons of royal etiquette, the two churches held services for two different audiences. The first is called the soldiers' church, the second the royal church. This meant that the king didn't have to rub shoulders with his troops. The Dome church is famous for housing Napoleon I's tomb in a circular crypt.

Superbe lieu, chargé d'histoire (intrigants drapeaux capturés des armées ennemies vaincues). Un sublime écrin pour de très beaux concerts !

During the monarchy, the emblems taken from the enemy were exposed to the vaults of Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral. From the French Revolution ,they are gathered in the church of Invalides, wich ceases to be a place of worship. At the time of Napoléon ,the mass is reintroduced and, because of the numerous victories of the imperial armies, more than 1400 flags are deposited in the church. They were burned in the courtyard of the Invalides in 1814, during the invasion of France,on the orders of Marshal Sérurier ,governor of the Hotel ,so that they did not fall into the hands of the enemy. Ashes and remains are thrown into the Seine .
