THE CHAPEL OF NOTRE-DAME DE LA MEDAILLE MIRACULEUSE
Chapel where Catherine Labouré saw the Virgin Mary, who asked her to found a confraternity of Children of Mary
It's a little-known fact, but the Chapelle Notre-Dame de la Médaille miraculeuse is one of the most visited sites in Paris, its position varying according to the rankings. This Catholic place of prayer and pilgrimage, sanctuary of the Daughters of Charity, owes its fame to Catherine Labouré, to whom the Virgin is said to have appeared in 1830. Medals reproducing the images Catherine is said to have seen were subsequently minted, as "all those who wear them will receive the graces [of the Virgin]".
