FONTAINE DES QUATRE-SAISONS
The Fontaine des Quatre-Saisons was designed to provide water to the district of the rue de Grenelle. The work is also a memorial in honour of King Louis XV, one can also see a Latin inscription on the sculpture that sings the praises of the king. Built by Edmée Bouchardon in the 1740s, this monumental Baroque fountain was built on a wide façade. In the center, it is adorned with three statues which represent the city of Paris surrounded by the Seine and the Marne. On its sides, in niches, other statues symbolize the four seasons. At the foot of this building are the mascaron with a sea monster head with which the water spouted out.
