COMPAGNIE FRANÇAISE DE L’ORIENT ET DE LA CHINE
If the French company of the East and China opened in 1995, the Orient's appeal to the East had already begun since 1906, when Perret & Vibert, cabinetmakers and renowned dealers opened their chinoiseries shop, initially called the Bamboo House. In 1966, a passionate income from his travels to China, François Dautresme, founded the Company to sell beautiful, useful and rare objects. Bought in 2011 by Laurent Dumas, another lover of the Middle Empire, it becomes a store, restaurant and cultural place. Far from the expected red facade, the display is expressed in a sober grey announcing the colour: we stop in the contemporary furniture of designers from Asia and Europe to the épurée line, to raw, natural and noble materials. The craft industry is present with the work of lacquer and basketry. The linen, lighting and the art of the table are also answered. In this respect, baguette will stop at the concept store restaurant, Le Yoko (designed by Sarah Lavoine and François Schmidt) to taste the Japanese influences of Korean chef Young Kyu Park. The most pressés will take bento, while gourmets will buy Asian products at the fine grocery corner. Tea time is served in the day and at a slightly more reasonable rate. Exhibitions and events are regularly organized in this trendy temple.
